The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports Gitte Stryhn, 56, was found dead in the ditch along Coal Street off Healy Spur Road just before 7 a.m. It appears the Troopers will arrest Dustin Dollarhide, 30, of Healy, on related charges of manslaughter, driving under the influence of alcohol, and failure to report an accident. We are very sorry for the Stryhn family’s loss.
The Stryhn family should immediately hire a personal injury attorney to help them. In deciding whom to hire, keep in mind that the most similar and thus relevant case in Alaska is: Michael LAMB, Appellant, v. Jeffrey ANDERSON, Appellee. No. S-11936. Decided: November 17, 2006. Lamb v. Anderson was handled by Fairbanks personal injury attorney Joe Paskvan: (907) 452-1205. The Stryhn family should call Mr. Paskvan ASAP. He will explain your legal rights – including how Alaska’s mandatory Underinsured Motorist laws apply to your loss. There is usually no charge for an initial consultation.
Also, keep your eye on t the 2 year Statute of Limitations for injury and death claims in Alaska. You must either file a claim within 2 years of this loss, or you settle your claims informally. If you fail to do so, you will lose valuable legal rights, including the right to compensation. This is VERY important.
Finally, be assured I am in no way associated with Mr. Paskvan, or his office. I’ve just worked with him over the last 25 years. I’m his competitor in Fairbanks. He is one hell of an attorney in cases like this. You can trust this advice.
We’ll pray for you.
